A full home renovation in Alphington. The M.J Harris Design team gave this dated and weathered period style home a modern yet respectful update. Proving it possible to blend modern function and style with the homes original unique aesthetics. It’s important to approach each update with the right balance to ensure one doesn’t cancel out the other.
With all of the works needing to be done at this home we enlisted the skills of the M.J. Harris Group Sister companies including M.J.Harris Painting, Plumbing, Electrical, Tiling, Carpentry. The exterior of the home was fully restored by M.J.Harris Carpentry. Keeping with the home’s rich history, the detailed front porch columns and exterior architraves were all sanded, restored and painted giving the home a new curb appeal. M.J Harris painters and carpenters did an amazing job fixing, cleaning, prepping, and ultimately transforming the exterior of the home using Dulux “Gamelan” on the weatherboards and “Snowy Mountains Full” on the trims, windows, gutters and fascias. The feature front door was painted in a gloss black.
Subtle references to the old house are brought into the contemporary renovation. Original hardwood Floors were sanded, polished and stained by Woodpecker Floors with a satin finish. The Interior was painted in the classic Natural White from Dulux.The monochrome kitchen came up gorgeous with contrasting dark wood accents. The kitchen features handmade spanish subway tiles by urban Edge Ceramics, custom joinery by Goulburn Valley Construction with polytec Calcutta doors, and new 20mm ceasterstone bench tops in Bianco drift. Smeg appliances by Harvey Norman were installed including a Pyrolytic Oven, Bevelled edge induction cooktop and undermount range-hood. We also added a new chrome Franke Sink and Grohe tap by Reece Bathrooms.
The bathroom renovation saw some major changes and are now modern, stylish and functional with custom joinery ,(Goulburn Valley Construction) the addition of niches in the showers and above the new Caroma freestanding tub. Phoenix Nostalgia Range tapware was used to keep with the traditional style of the home. Stone bench tops in pure white by ceaserstone and basins by Caroma blend effortlessly in these spaces . Our designers along with the clients choose some exquisite tile combinations using “SICIS” tiles by Perini Tiles for the feature mosaic , Charcoal Floor tiles by Academy Tiles and Marble Wall tiles by Beaumont Tiles.
